Look beyond fitting a ventilation unit
A ventilation provider should state whether it covers airflow design, routing, installation, balancing and ongoing service. Selling a heat-recovery unit does not automatically include those tasks. Comparing offers needs room plans, occupancy, intake and discharge positions and available shafts. Without these inputs, nominal unit capacity remains only one parameter among many.
Ask for commissioning evidence
Clarify how terminal flows are measured, supply and extract balanced, and noise checked. A report containing actual readings distinguishes installed equipment from a commissioned system. Heat-exchanger catalogue performance cannot establish room-by-room distribution. Work examples should show filter access, attenuation, insulation and condensate arrangements, rather than only ducts that disappear above a ceiling.
Plan for the operating household
Ask who explains operating modes, where filters are obtained and how cleaning is arranged. Changes to doors or room layout may require transfer-air paths to be checked again. A company may submit its role and examples of documented commissioning; the solution for your house must still be assessed against its plans and agreed requirements. Service access deserves attention before the system is concealed, when correcting an inaccessible filter or drain is still straightforward.
Filter replacement
Ask to see the actual filter removal path. Opening the cover is insufficient if the cartridge hits a wall or another service. Preserve the space for this recurring task after all finishes are complete.
