Begin with the physical task

This section connects construction and services topics with the functions they must provide. Two routes through the material

For a new design, move from foundation, walls and roof to windows, airtightness and services. For a particular defect, start with the symptom: a cold surface may need junction analysis, while inadequate air supply may require examination of the entire ventilation route. A product name does not necessarily identify the cause. Each solution therefore explains principles, inputs and the point at which simplification becomes unreliable.

Inspect the connections between topics
