Describe loads and operating patterns
House electrical supply includes the incoming connection, distribution, protection, earthing and load management. Supplement the appliance list with simultaneous operating patterns: cooking, water heating, vehicle charging and a heat pump can produce different peaks. Annual kWh describes energy consumed, but cannot determine incoming connection capacity or the permitted load on an individual circuit.
Coordinate the distribution system
Distribution must fit the available capacity, phase arrangement and connection conditions. Cables and protective devices are selected as coordinated parts of the system, considering installation method and operating conditions. There is no universal cable-size table here: identical appliance power does not make every cable route equivalent. Electrical design and installation require the relevant professional competence and project-specific checks.
Backup introduces another operating mode
A generator or inverter creates an additional supply condition with its own protection and transfer requirements. Dedicated critical circuits help limit reserve demand without accidentally powering the entire house. Solar generation does not automatically remain available during a grid outage. Island operation and return to the main supply must be explicitly included in the design rather than assumed from the presence of panels.
Provide inputs and retain records
Prepare connection information, equipment locations, major loads and backup needs. Coordination should produce a circuit diagram, labels, distribution-board specification and pre-use verification plan. Record site changes so that the as-built diagram reflects the installation. Keeping these two tasks distinct prevents an energy estimate from being mistaken for approval of a connection scheme.
