A design review is most useful before procurement and irreversible work. It identifies conflicts and establishes what needs correction or clarification.
Standard designs and substitutions
A standard design needs site adaptation. Changing blocks, insulation or windows can affect loads, moisture behaviour and junctions even when dimensions look similar.
Basements and difficult ground
Check that foundation and waterproofing follow the investigation. Uncertainty about ground conditions cannot be resolved by a superficial plan review.
Glazing, ventilation and junctions
Extensive glazing needs summer-performance assessment. Missing ventilation layouts or junction details justify resolving those questions before related orders are placed.
Equipment added late
Heat pumps, PV and batteries affect space, electricity, controls and maintenance. Check compatibility with architectural decisions already made.
Construction already underway
Separate completed work, committed orders and changes still possible. Concealed work needs as-built evidence; drawings do not prove construction.
Review output
A useful report identifies the issue, consequence, priority, owner and closure evidence. A general verdict that the design is good is insufficient.
