New Insulation Materials: What to Verify Before Use

This 9 September 2026 review uses CircularInFoam as an insulation-development example. A research result is not yet a ready façade product for your home.

Dated event

On 18 June 2026, Fraunhofer ICT reported development of PLA-based insulation systems and halogen-free flame retardants. The release explicitly describes development work and further testing.

What it means

A new material platform warrants assessment of future suitability, not immediate substitution of specified insulation. A research name does not identify a production product with established documentation.

What to request

A real product needs design conductivity, moisture conditions, mechanical properties, fire classification and installation-system data. Check methods and application scope for each metric.

Conclusion limits

This review establishes no superiority over mineral wool or EPS and no Ukrainian availability. Sustainability language cannot replace lifecycle and operational comparison.

Before application

Compare full systems serving the same functions and agree substitutions with the designer. The next editorial review target is 9 October 2026; procurement requires current product documentation.

What this means for your project

Treat the development as a subject for assessment. Do not change the façade without production-product data and full-system coordination.
